Audi R8 LMS
The Nürburgring based Phoenix Racing sqaud was founded in 1999, but already has a sucessfull history in motorsports. The team of Ernst Moser and Dirk Theimann started racing in the german Super Toruring Cup with two Audi A4 and switched to DTM as a Opel works entry one year later. Until the withdraw of Opel after the 2004 season, Phoenix was part of the Opel effort. After a break of one year, they came back as partners of Audi. A connection, which is existing till today.
In GT racing, Pheonix is active nearly since the beginning. 2000 they raced a Porsche 996 GT3 R at the 24hrs of Nürbriing at took the overall victory. One year later they repeated this vicotry and raced also in the german Carrera Cup. 2006 Phoenix Racing purchased a GT1 Aston Martin DBR9 for the FIA GT Championship, but changed to Corvette for 2007 and 2008. 2009 saw the start of their GT3 campaign with the Audi R8 LMS. Wins at 24hrs races at Nürburging and Spa or the FIA GT3 European title in 2009 continued their sucess.
Phoenix Racing will be fielding two Audi R8 LMS ultra cars in the Blancpain Sprint Series.
